The design team behind Dominion Wars has tried to place the gamer within Star Trek Deep Space Nine's environment as much as possible. Ship hull designs are instantly recognizable to anyone, as are the accurate representations of the traditional control screens and interfaces that the Deep Space Nine, Next Generation, and Voyager command bridges have all used on TV and the big screen. Gizmo's Gary Wagner and Simon & Schuster stopped by yesterday to show off the upcoming Dominion Wars, a real-time strategy game based in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine universe. It focuses on taking the space battles seen in the TV series and importing them to your computer. (www.gamers.com)
The release late last year of Star Trek Deep Space Nine: The Fallen proved that publisher Simon and Schuster Interactive could bring a well done and solid game based on the classic TV series to PCs. Now the publisher hopes that the success of the DS9 franchise will continue with Dominion Wars. (www.stomped.com)
It's the mother of all battles - Federation versus Dominion, Klingon versus Cardassian and Romulans against the Breen - and it's coming to your PC. What else could it be but Gizmo's epic new DS9 game Dominion Wars? We quizzed Producer Gary Wagner on the latest developments. (www.gamespot.co.uk)
While there are still a lot of functionality issues to work out, this is actually one of the more complete alphas we've seen in a while. Stability and frame rates are still a problem, but most of the actual game is solid. The missions and ships are in and, as long as the code continues to be optimized, gamers will definitely be looking forward to this one -- whether they're Star Trek fans or not. (pc.ign.com/previews)
...the story of Dominion Wars is taken directly from the "real" Dominion Wars from the last two seasons of the Deep Space Nine television series. You can command battles taken directly from the show, as well as a few battles mentioned only in dialogue. This is very cool if you're a fan of DS9. Think that the Dominion could have beat down Sisko and the Defiant? Or maybe the Klingons could have picked up the pace. It's up to you in Dominion Wars. . (http://firingsquad.gamers.com)
If there’s one thing in the Star Trek universe that’s more exacting than Vulcan logic, more refined than Picard commanding the Enterprise, and more strategic than James Tiberius putting the moves on an alien lover, it’s the grand-scale space combat. These are not the zip-zing frenetic battles of Star Wars, but rather tactical dances that engage the intellect and test a captain’s true heroism -- or a gamer’s true mettle. (http://www.avault.com)
